Some potential project activities that directly involve people experiencing social issues.
Community-Driven Curation:
Themed Exhibitions: Organize rotating exhibitions where community members curate selections from the existing collection based on themes relevant to their experiences or cultural heritage. This fosters a sense of ownership and allows them to tell their own stories through art.
Collaborative Project: Partner with local artists and residents to create new artwork inspired by the existing collection. This can be a visual dialogue between established artists and emerging voices, reflecting on shared themes of African and African American identity in the Los Angeles context.
Interactive Learning:
Art & Identity Workshops: Organize workshops led by community members who can share their cultural traditions and art forms. This can include dance, music, storytelling, or craft workshops that connect to the themes presented in the collection
